Sensei James Likens Chief instuctor
Sensei Likens is a 6th degree Black belt under Master Steve St.Pierre. He has been teaching Karate and Kung fu since 1988. As a professional instructor he has taught over 1000 students over the past decade. He has dedicated his adult life to the truth of close quarter combat.
Not afraid to put his money where his mouth is, Sensei has worked as a security specialist, bouncer, and Police officer for the past 14 years. As a police officer, Sensei was a sergeant with the Indianapolis Housing police until the grant fed department was closed due to funding. He is currently a patrolman with Indianapolis Police department’s support service section.
On the street, he has worked the roughest neighborhoods and the bar districts. He has seen and been in a lot of combative situations. He has taken this knowledge and experience and developed a program that is unlike the rest. This is not a “Karated up defensive tactics police type program”. His program is based in the Okinawan and Chinese arts, his street experience has helped to clarify some points and negate others.
His students are tough, dedicated, and skilled! Most that start their training under Sensei will not finish it. Sensei has a saying “I can show you the Way, but I cannot do the work for you.” Those that “finish” or “start” (depending on the point of view) their warrior path by becoming black-belts are better people for it, and have much to offer. Sensei Likens is known for his Iron Palm technique and the power it generates.
